![]() I am genuinely interested in options for a current NASCAR sim to do some offline racing. Most of the parts of NH3 are objectively sub par, lucky for Monster the sum somehow seems to drag their game across the finish - barely though and in the spirit of Cars Lightning McQueen, having to stick their tongue out to cross the line with two blown rear tires. Monster is doing a better job than Eutechnyx in providing a balanced racing game, but their reliance on old Dirt to Daytona basics, Unity engine and console centric options for PC is keeping back their development. NH3 is a mixed bag and as such it will turn away many people - but if you can look beyond its failings there is still a fun racing experience to be had. The new class is fun on the ovals, but again less so on the twisty tracks, which emphasize the less than stellar physics / handling models. The new dirt racing is imo the only reason to take a serious look at NH3 if you have NH2 and you are not a Nascar fan. The handling is sub par if you are used to road track racing games, but at least racing on road tracks like Watkins Glen is now a lot better than NHE when the just AI did not know what to do. Racing in general is good, for the type of game, on ovals, speedways and super speedways, imo it is not the same on road tracks. So back to an unforgivable lack of settings for PC.ĪI seems to be slower in Quick Race mode, even at higher settings, but go career and Hard / Legend and it will pose more of a challenge. Judging by uploaded high res footage, especially 4k, the AA filtering can seems ok.īut I am not alone reporting the poor 1080p AA, so maybe it is some poorly optimized console leftover. Unfortunately the way the Unity engine is used precludes most driver side tweaking of the AA settings. On 1080p the AA filters are very poor on a GTX 1080 - this may have a mix of reasons, but it has been that way since NHE. Settings are console minimal, imho unforgivable for graphics and FFB on PC. NH3 is a mixed bag, just like its predecessor, but improved compared to the original NHE. ![]()
